Ab Rollouts: Your New Core Challenge 🔥
Ever wonder how to build a rock-solid core with a move you can do anywhere? In this episode, I show you how to work up to your very first ab rollout. It’s not easy, but with the right form and practice, you'll soon feel those abs burning in all the right ways!
Getting Started:
To do an ab rollout right, start in a cat/cow position. Round your upper back and create a hollow position. A good way to mimic this is by doing deadbugs. Deadbugs force you to push your lower back into the ground, which in turn activates your core.
The Rollout:
With your core engaged, roll the ab wheel away until your body is parallel with the floor (your nose should almost kiss the ground!). Then, roll back to the starting position, keeping your form solid all the way.
If the ab wheel feels too challenging, try using an EZ bar instead—the wider grip can make it easier to stay stable, especially if you're taller.
Keep Practicing:
Ab rollouts are tough, but they are a great way to strengthen your core. At Matheny Muscle House, we use them a lot, and you can do them anywhere. Watch the video for a full demo, and soon you'll be ready to add this move to your regular routine!
