At Matheny Muscle House, we love using bands and chains in our workouts. Why? Because they’re not just cool to look at—they actually make your lifts more effective and safer. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned lifter, adding bands and chains can help you get stronger, improve control, and reduce the risk of injury.

 

Why Use Bands and Chains?

 

Bands and chains work on a principle called accommodating resistance. That’s just a fancy way of saying the weight changes as you lift it.

Chains: As you lift the bar, more chain links come off the floor, making it heavier at the top (where you’re strongest) and lighter at the bottom (where you’re weaker).

Bands: They stretch as you lift, adding more tension at the top of the movement and less at the bottom.

This makes your lifts smoother, safer, and more effective.
