Why Were You Searching for an Online Coach?

Honestly, I was tired of spinning my wheels in the gym. I was training 6 days a week, busting my ass, only to look in the mirror and not like what I saw. I also stepped on the scale to see myself at 230 lbs… roughly 30-40lbs overweight.

I was overweight and out of shape, even though I was spending hours in the gym. I remember feeling a pounding in my head just bending over to tie my shoes and feeling out of breath doing basic things like walking up the stairs.

I had known about Zach from seeing and hearing about him from CoryG and the 4am Crew. When I heard he was taking online clients, I figured I’d reach out to see what he could offer, in hopes of getting into the best shape of my life by my 30th birthday.

I’d worked with numerous online trainers/coaches before. From bodybuilding coaches to sport-specific coaches to personal trainers, and every online workout program in between. Some were great and some were an absolute waste.

 

What Were Your Main Goals When First Hiring Zach?

When first hiring Zach, I just wanted to lose the weight. I wanted to get to 200 lbs and feel better. I’m a full-time firefighter and I needed to be in better shape to do the job at the level I demand of myself.

Aesthetics were largely my main goal, but being healthy and strong were also big players. That being said, in the process I found a love for building strength and chasing heavy lifts with Zach’s coaching.

 

Reflecting on the ‘Check-In’ Process with Zach

Reflecting on the 'check-in' process with Zach, it was incredibly helpful. The regular check-ins provided accountability and allowed me to track my progress effectively.

Zach's guidance and support during these check-ins were invaluable. He would be tough on me when I needed it, and provide understanding and grace when needed as well.

As I said earlier, I’ve worked with a ton of coaches in my life, and no one compares to Zach, especially in terms of check-ins. He truly is invested in his clients in a way that I don’t know how it would be possible for anyone NOT to reach their goals working with him.

 

Balancing Training with Work, Family, and Life

This was huge in my time with Zach. He played a significant role in helping me navigate training while balancing a wild firefighter work schedule, taking multiple classes, working an additional full-time job in a restaurant, family, and any/all other life commitments.

His flexible approach to programming and understanding of my schedule allowed me to consistently stay on track with my workouts and nutrition. His skills were truly highlighted in this regard.

 

The Cory G Fitness #IWANTABZ Contest

During the CoryG Fitness #IWANTABZ Contest, Zach provided tailored programming and nutrition guidance to help me achieve my goals effectively. His expertise and support were instrumental in my success during the contest.

In 40 days, I dropped 13 lbs of pure fat and GAINED 1 lb of muscle. Something unheard of in most scenarios.

 

Overall Results and Experience

Overall, working with Zach has been an incredible journey. In my 80 weeks with Zach I’ve done the following:

  • Bench Press: 315 to 335 lbs
  • Back Squat: 385 to 435 lbs
  • Deadlift: 415 to 465 lbs
  • Front Squat: 285 to 345 lbs

While in the process, I also went from barely being able to complete a 2-mile run at a sub 11-minute pace to completing a 13.2-mile half marathon at a 9:22 pace! My labs and health markers have improved in every single aspect.

I have had ZERO injuries.

I came to Zach with a semi-torn sacrum in my hip and nagging shoulder/bicep issues. Zach helped rehab and prevent any further injury. I haven’t had a nagging issue in over a year from my time with Zach.

I’m able to perform my job as a firefighter at the highest level. I’m strong enough and also have the cardio capacity to be an absolute savage on the fire ground thanks to Zach.

I’m truly grateful for Zach's dedication, support, and expertise throughout the process. He got me into the best shape of my life in my 30’s, and I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with him for as long as possible!
